A rational number is one that can be expressed by dividing one integer by another (examples: 1/3; 257/953). An irrational number is one that is not rational (example: π; square root of 2).

The decimal part of any RATIONAL number will either come to an ended, or will reach the point where it repeats endlessly. (You can think of your 0.75 as 0.75000000000, where the 0's repeat endlessly.) Conversely, the decimal part of any IRRATIONAL number will go on forever without repeating.

rational numbers are usually said as a number that ends. a repeating decimal ends becuz usually a fraction is used or to shorten it there is bar notation. an irrational number is something that goes on forever, as an ex. pi . teachers may say to use 3.14 or 22/7 but really it is 3.14159265358979..........it just goes on and on with changing numbers.
i hope you understand it now☺!
