It would seem logical to have such assumption but I have found it not to be true. Rural people in America, for the most part, hold a fundamentalist Christian view that any theory contrary to the Bible is wrong and blasphemous.

Actually, it did; in rural England, of the time. The land owners of the estates were well versed in artificial selection, so they understood the theory better than in the cities, Darwin himself, was a country squire.

Actually most people who subscribe to the theory of evolution can actually spell. However in rural areas this trait is accelerated because they are not exposed to intellectual inferiors.

I don't think it did in rural areas as much as in cities.
