The most accurate survey of Everest was conducted by the Chinese about 18 months ago and they established a height of 8844.43 metres (29017 feet).
The height of 8848 metres (29028) feet comes from an older and less accurate survey but is the figure known to most people.
A couple of people mentioned 29,035 feet - this was the height as measured by one survey some years ago.
And just for the record (as per previous answer), Everest isn't known as K2. Everest is sometimes known as Sagarmatha or Chomolungma (check spelling). K2 is a completely separate mountain about 1500km from Everest and is sometimes known as Goodwin Austen.

Depends how you define and measure it. Some people say 8844 meters, some say 8851.
