According to M. K. Holder, an anthropologist at Indiana University, somewhere between 70% and 95% of the world's 6 billion people are right-handed, and about 5% to 30% are left-handed. A certain percentage is probably ambidextrous (can use both hands). In an article in Scientific American, Holder stated that these percentages "appear to be universally true for all human populations anywhere in the world." And get this, according to one theory, exposure to higher rates of testosterone before birth can lead to a left-handed child. (Geschwind theory)

We don't know for certain what percentage of people are left handed. Estimates vary from 2 to 30 percent of any human population. Most estimates hover around 10%, depending upon the criteria used to assess handedness. Males are about one and one half to two times more likely to be left-handed than are females. Some animals like cats, badgers, wolves, bears, and lobsters favor their left side. Rats and monkeys favor their right side for handling things.

I don't know the percentage but in our family of 6...my Dad, 2 brothers my sister and myself are all left handed.

i think in the US it's like 27% but im not shure... what i do no is that when you use your left hand it acsesses* a diffrent part of your brain and helps make you smarter
both my brother and father are anbidextious* and i have like 5 friends that are left handed by force (because of a broken are from cheerleading... in our school its dangous) or there parents or grandparents tought them and they liked it and stuck to it.
