If no other crimes were involved, specifically a felony, you may be charged with a misdemeanor, or even an infraction.

The DA or City Attorney's office may not even file charges.

If you have no other crimes on your record jacket, you probably can get probation and/or a small fine.

Trespassing is different that breaking ,and entering, trespassing may just be a small fine or time suspended( such as 30 day suspended sentence) which is no time in jail ..B & E could be charged with that or Burglary if you had any type of weapon it could be made a felony charge , if this is a first offense the sentence could be light .unless it is Felony B & E with intent to commit a violent crimes ( if weapon was involved) if iit is simple B & E you won't get much time...even though you should because you had the intent of theft and a thief is just as sorry as child molesters ,rapists ,and woman beaters....you deserve to ROT for trying to take something that someone else worked for ...SO I will be Praying you do get some time...If prison does not straighten you up ,when you get out I will let you break into my house, then you can say lesson learned...... But chances are you will get off light (until bubba gets a hold) and you probably will not learn until your third strike....

I am a bit on each side here... Yes, it's a construction site, but you didn't say how much construction had been done. Was it just lacking power, furniture and people? If that's the case, and the kids were just looking around, then I see no reason for them to have charges pressed on them. I was a kid once, and anywhere I COULD go I went. Abandoned houses, construction sites, stuff like that. Said neighbor, homeowners, and parental units should all sit and discuss the directions this should go. No I think breaking and entering is a bull---- charge, They didn't steal, deface, or have a wacky sleepover at the unattended house, so I see no reason at all to prosecute them. I THINK, that maybe someone should have had the door locked? Maybe the Construction workers, or the homeowners themselves. They want to blame kids curiosity on their own negligence to secure their 'assets' if you will, Being an Army Vet, one of the MANY things you learn is to secure everything you own, anything you have of value anyways. Let the kids go, and next time, Homeowner/Construction crew: LOCK THE DAMN DOORS IF YOU DON'T WANT ANYONE LOOKING AROUND!!!.... Methinks the neighbor should mind his own business unless it's a REAL break in.

You might have to spend some time in jail. Like a night or a week or so. If they keep the charge simple and you get released on O.R. (no priors or anything), then it is a summary offense and you would have to make arrangements with the magistrate to make payments of around $20.00 a month til your fine was paid off. Summary fines run around $250.
But again this is the minimum you could be looking at.

By the way, why is it necessary for you to be breaking in this abandoned building as it seems you must have a place with electric so what is the purpose?

If you do get jail time (it would depend a lot on any priors) it wouldn't' be the rest of your life. But be prepared for hefty fines.
