It's so funny. When I started wearing mascara 17 years ago I never realized that the good ol' pink and green (or, as I always called it, the "watermelon") Maybelline Great Lash mascara would still reign supreme. Truthfully, my family and friends all agree that you get the biggest bang for your buck with this $5 mascara. It's available in waterproof or regular, curved brush or straight, and in various colors. It's easy to find and buy, and is inexpensive.
That being said, I won't deny that I've grown into a makeup snob over the years and have also found some other noteworthy brands. My two current favorites are Lancome Hypnose and DiorShow. If you want nice big dramatic eyelashes, these are the mascaras for you. If you want something a little less showy, but still impressive, give Lancome Definicil a try. (FYI, I've NEVER had a clumping problem with this one. It's also often in the free gifts that Lancome gives away with purchases, so watch for those....).
Oh, and try this to eliminate clumping: take a paper towel and clean off the mascara wand every once in a while. I've noticed that when the wand gets build-up that mascara (regardless of the brand) can have the tendency to clump.
Good luck!

My favorite is Volume Flash by Rimmel London. It makes my eye lashes so long and adds volume. But to make your eyelashes perfect with any mascara, after applying any mascara, you take a comb that has thin teeth and brush your lashes. It takes off clumps and keeps lashes from sticking to each other.

cheap--> maybelline, its a black and white tube, one end is the primer the other is the mascara. this has been the BEST store bought mascara i have had. the second best store one (in my opinion) would be cover girl, the purple tube. then after that i'd pick that omg i forget the name. its a white tube, with a silver lid. anyway the brand that im talking about, it always tells you what matches your eye color, or your skin color. meaning theres always little pictures around all of their products that tell you what goes with what. i hope you know what im talking about! anyway THOSE are the three store ones id use.
department store, which means more money, ELIZABETH ARDEN plus the primer! it's sooo nice and doesn't clump.

I use maybelline. Nothing expensive. Great value and it looks great too. I use the waterproof mascara. Have been for 30 years. Are you using it correctly? Put a little on, let it dry, then reapply very carefully..

I love the maybelline XXL volume+length. It has two ends, one end is the white stuff that preps your lashes and then the other end is the actual mascara. It maks them longer and it doesn't smudge or clump! I love it:)

Lancome makes the best mascara, hand down. They have the best brushes for the specific type of lashes you want (fuller brush for fuller lashes, more tapered and thin for longer lashes) and there formula is perfect!
