I picked these songs for a few reasons. Most were undeniably ground-breaking smashes. The more subtle hits I listed, (namely Crimson and Clover, amazing song) they may not have caused Beatlemania when they were out, but their influence to today's music is as great if not greater than the others.

Hound Dog - Elvis

Rock Around the Clock - Bill Haley and the Comets

Crimson and Clover - Tommy James

My Girl - Temptations

Peggy Sue - Buddy Holly

Light My Fire - The Doors

All My Loving - The Beatles

Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynard

The Sound of Silence - Simon and Garfunkel

Shout - The Isley Brothers
