My fella phoned 3 today to downgrade his contract to a cheaper tariff. They said yes, if he pays them £25 admin fee to do it. They also said that it would be £25 every time, so if he wanted to downgrade in successive months, it would cost him that amount for each downgrade. So it wouldn't just be a one-off charge. I've downgraded loads of times with 3 without a problem. We think this is unfair, especially as there is nothing in the contract T & C's that covers this issue. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

My partner asked for written details about this, but they refused to provide them. Also, I rang up myself and was told the same thing, that it's a new charge that began in December that everyone who wishes to downgrade will have to pay. Either we pay up, or we stay on the tariff we're on. Remember this is for every time we downgrade and however long we have had the phone for. So we downgrade once at £25, then the next month at £25, and so on, till we reach the miumum tariff or we are at the level we are happy with. My partner and I are absolutely livid about this!
