It's so ridiculous that people say the terms "nerd" and "geek" about guys who are not athletic and coky. What's wrong with being introverted and cretive? I think this is because of what I like to call the peasant syndrome in American society: it is looked at as cool to act low-class and ignorant. A lot of the sports that are so popular are sports designed for the lower-classes.

Now a days I look upon the term nerd or geek as a complement. Tell them thank you and that you are, just Bill Gates is. And you will remember them when you reach the top. I agree with your peasant class theory, you need to do a dissertation on it sometime. It's the physical activity's that get noticed, but it's the brains that make the TV technology possible for them to be noticed. As for me, I will be more than willing to stay in the shadows and count my millions, while all those jocks age and become useless because they have no other skills than carrying an inflated piece of pig skin.
