I have a bunch of old records that I would love to have on CD's...How do I do it?

I have done it before with my computer and the CD Burner...you just need a wire that adapts to the speaker output of the record player and connects to your microphone...stereo. You record your music onto your hard drive, then you can burn the CD's...I have a couple of programs that will do it. But I left my record player in storage in another state...along with all my records...some of which are family heirlooms....
