William Henry Harrison was the 9th President of the United States (March 4, 1841 - April 4, 1841). He was secretary of the Northwest Territory and later its delegate to Congress. He won fame as a soldier, and when the Indian chief Tecumseh took the warpath (backed by the British), Harrison conquered him at Tippecanoe in 1811. The next year we went to war with England, and Harrison commanded forces in the Northwest, leading to the invasion of Canada. In 1816 he came to Congress from Ohio, and later the Senate, resigning to be named Minister to Columbia. He died of pleurisy and pneumonia at the White House. His third son, John Scott Harrison, was in Congress when his father was President. His grandson, Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd President.
