are there special men's button-down shirts that taper toward the bottom or do they just look that way on some guys (when they are left untucked...)?

I'm not asking about the hem shape, but rather the taper down to the hem. Am asking because my husband recently bought one but it looks too full at the bottom.

Some men's shirts are tapered, while some have straight tails. If you're a leaner guy, the tapered ones tend to fit better, particularly if you're relatively broad-shouldered compared to your waist, while the straight ones tend to fit better on those for whom the waist has begun to expand. Some makers offer both types, while others only have one type available. An upscale clothing store will have both and can show you the difference on yourself.
