I'd recommend posting the question again with more info:
What make/model of laptop? What OS? How much memory? Are you attached to the internet? Wireless or cat5? Do you have other computers that do not have this problem (To see if it's you're internet connection).
This problem is probably going to be impossible to figure out without alot of info. One good hint: Ig it's windows got to Start->run. Type in "dxdiag"[enter]. dxdiag is a diagnostic tool that tells you alot about your computer.

You can upgrade it by adding RAM chips to it, go to a best buy and ask which one to get. Take the computer there for them to install it. You can get a better processor, you can get a better hard drive with faster writing speeds. You can do all of these things but they will cost you a couple hundred dollars depending on how much you want to upgrade it.

or, go to my profile and send an im or email to me, and I'll walk you through the repairs..

.
This is a "power" issue...I suspect:
Bad battery.
If it's new, return it to the "seller" for a replacement battery.
If it's past warranty, get a new battery.
