Over the past few weeks, i believe i have developed a pretty serious wow addiction, i been playing the game since Jan 2006, but never like this, its only since that expansion came out i have gone totally off the rails, playing for at least 16 hrs a day, on days off college, but on the days i'm in college all i do is sit there reading forums, or loot sites, then get home dump my bag in the corner, and play wow the whole time, barely getting 5 hrs sleep a night.... has anyone else gone worse since TBC came out, i know i have to stop playing it or i will fail my course, which is really not an option for me at the moment, but i cant think of anything else except WoW, and i'm 31 yrs old ffs!!!

Do i go see a doctor or what ??
I dont know where to start ??
any ideas??

YOU HAVE TO READ THIS.

I had the exactly same experience as you. I played the game since it came out like 3years ago (i was 17) and i became a Wow addict since then. I used to played 12hours up everyday, hardcore pvpin, raiding and such. I had 2field marshal characters and 1 grand marshal character who were loaded up with epics and i was very proud of it.

At first i didnt realize this game were sucking up my life until one of my very close friend talked to me half year ago. He told me that the glories, epics and such were not real, and they wouldnt benefit my life. And he asked me to compare my life now and before i started playing the game. I finally noticed that many things had changed, my school grades dropped dramatically and i lost a lot of friends.

A few days after we talked i logged onto Wow, went to my servers, clicked on my 3 beloved characters and hit DELETE without hesitation (i trashed the game also). It did hurt but i never regret cause i get my life back.

Hope this helps.

I hear WoW is an excellent game and all, but frankly I'm afraid to try it. I don't want to end up like... you, for example.

My first idea for you is to take small steps away from WoW. First start by playing different MMORPGs, like maybe... Guild Wars, Everquest, Phantasy Star Universe. Then, when you're comfortable, start playing offline RPGs, like Final Fantasy XII, Kingdom Hearts, Fire Emblem. You should be good by then.

My second idea is to find another really fun game. If you have a console, try playing Gears of War (online, of course) or Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. If you don't have a console, play Company of Heroes or some Steam shooters.

My third idea is to give away your WoW account and disks. This is kind of a last resort.

thats pretty common in U.S first thing you do is uninstall the game off your computer and DO NOT REINSTALL IT. then do other things like playing outside if its not cold where you live or watch T.V or run around in your house or something. but remember no reinstalling or else it'll start again if it doesn't work then go to the doctor but it should

You can go see any type of therapist that deals with addictions for one thing. Delete your characters, cancel your account, and throw away the game box.

i understand. it is an addiction. try to limit your play time and go play sports outside or something. if that doesnt help there is a video game rehab center somewhere in europe

a good quote to answer this is:

"If you love life, don't waste time, for time is what life is made up of."

when people get old they have bizarre stories to tell everyone about how they lived. you do not want to grow old and tell everyone how you played wow and wasted your life now do you?

think about it.
