i have been with my man for over 6 years,up to now we have had no problems as such, and have been very happy together.i have wanted to ask him to marry me for about 6 months now,and i have thought of everything from asking him over dinner, to taking him to his faveourite sporting event. basicially he is very shy so i wouldnt want to put him on the spot. in youre own personal opinions is it a good idea for me to buy a valentines card saying "to my fiance" then inside write something simple like "will you be my hubby",then put it in his pocket on valentines day (as we are both working that day) that way he gets the card when he is at work and he would have the whole day to think about it....please advise..thankyou in advance..

I think you should ask him to his face... he might think you are just joking if you do it with a card...

I believe asking someone to marry is a very intimate thing that should be done with the two people being together when that question is asked. You want the day to be memorable and romantic. Asking in a card seems too impersonal and doesn't seem very serious. I think that you should invite him over to your house and have a romantic dinner with candles and wine. When you have created the right atmosphere then you ask him to marry you. I wish you luck with your proposal.

NO: Just ask one evening while you are together, after Valentine's day, What are the three most significant reason that we should not get married?

I doubt that he can come up with any, but allow some room to talk.

well if the guys shy then you really don't want to put him on the spot. Y ou have a good idea but I think it would be best to let him pop the question so that way there is no confusion about what he wants.

I'd say no. Who wants to propose to someone via hallmark on their morning commute? Make it special, or at least heart felt. Sit him down, have a honest conversation with him. See his response when you ask him.
