We have a house that is a little over 2,000 sq. ft., but we are converting to mostly hard floors. Only 2 of the 4 bedrooms will be carpeted. We will still have area rugs and we do have pets. I would love to have an easy-to-use hose feature, and good suction. Any ideas?

I used to clean houses for a living and I always use the vacuum on site so I've tried many sweepers. When one of my homes bought a Dyson I was amazed at the difference between the Dyson and other sweepers. It's bagless, quiet, and amazingly powerful. In fact if you have old carpet that has loose strings you'll have to watch because the Dyson pulls them right out. Cleans like a champ. Hands down my best pick!

I've had a lot of vacuums over the years but since I bought a Rainbow in1985 I have not needed another. It filters and catches the dirt dust in water so no dust exhaust like other vacuums. Which is why I still have it all these years, the engine doesn't get the dust and burn/wear out. Also means you don't have to dust "after" you vacuum like others require so it is great for allergies. It cleans the air. You will never spend your precious money or time buying bags for it. It is welll designed for stairs and has great attachments for hardwood and rugs. Oddly kids like it and will willingly vacuum with the Rainbow..go figure eh?
It's not dead quiet but is quiet enough, certainly not overly noisy.
If you accidentally vacuum up a small item it is easy to find and retrieve it from the water versus searching thru a dusty bag. I put the wet dust in the compost or flush it down the toilet.

Oh man, my brother just started this job and he was showing us the vacumn that he has to sell. The brand is Kirby and they have been around for 90 years i think, but a really long time. He did a demonstration and my bed had a lot of dead skin cells[TMI, i know, just letting ya know though] It goes into the matress 6 inches deep. It has a thing for hardwood floors, carpets, cars, rugs, beds, dogs, and lots more. i think you should look into it. It is worth it. Our neighbor has one, and my mom just bought one too. hope i helped.
