First, hamsters don't have periods the way dogs or humans do.
You need to supply a little more information with your question. Is your hamster a male or female? Do you have more than one hamster in the cage? What kind of cage is it? What kind of wheel do you have?
There are so many things that can cause injury to a hamster. The obvious one is a fight with another hamster. Just because you don't see a wound doesn't mean it isn't there. The fact that there's blood tells you that an injury was sustained somewhere. Do you have a wire bar cage? Check the hamsters mouth to see if it injured itself while chewing the bars. Do you have a wire bar exercise wheel? Check each of the limbs for injury.
Is your hamster a female? It is possible that she ate her pups but it's highly unlikely. Not to be to graphic but the females that I had eat their pups did not eat them all in their entirety, there was always evidence of the pups. If there are other hamsters in the cage though, they may have helped to eat the pups. Syrian hamsters are solitary and need to be housed separately.
If you add a few more details to your question, I can help to narrow down the cause.

If its a female it may be in heat. Also it might have had the blood in its urin or coughed it up. It might have had a small scratch and then its not noticable any more. Hamsters are hard to tell because not many medicines exist for them and they are also so small. Best of luck.

If you have a boy and a girl, then it might mean they have had sex and if you have only a girl, then it might have started its period.

I know this will sound gross, but its possible that it gave birth and ate the babies.
