I am in the offseason with my team on Franchise Mode. The very first step in the schedule during the offseason is player retirements.

Is there anyway I can prevent a player from retiring from my team? Such as offering him more money or something like that? If not what is the purpose of the Player Retirement screen?

I have noticed sometimes when you advance through player retiremens it says certain players recieved new roles. What does that mean? How can I do that?

Any help is much appreciated.

I AM USING A PS2 CONSOLE.

I have had Madden for a long time! I have tried but never successfully did anything to keep retired players. I am in my 5th or 6th year. Manning is retiring and I wish he wasn't, so I was desperate and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Thanks

Not that I know of. I always do my franchises with the Packers and after the first year I use that to find out whether or not Brett is coming back. It's just a screen that lets you see which players are retiring and which are coming back.

you can't stop them from retiring. It just informs you who's hangin it up. Roles are based on performance, among other things. Man, you just got Madden or something?
