It is not recommended that you mix any other type of fish with goldfish. Goldfish have too many specialized water requirements and create too many water quality problems which would create a stressful environment for tropical fish. Goldfish should only be with other goldfish. And that goes one step further. Slim bodied only with slim bodied. Fancies with regular eyes only with fancies with regular eyes and fancies with specialized eyes such as telescope, bubble or celestial only with fancies with specialized eyes because of feeding issues. And that feeding issue would apply to the tropicals getting all the food as well.

They're very peaceful, so any other coldwater fish, really. But you need to have a big enough tank. If they're fancy goldfish (such as fantails, orandas, ryukins), 30+ gallons, and if they're pond goldfish (such as comets and common), 120+ gallons.
If you don't meet these requirements, then you're not housing your goldfish properly and the tank will be unsuitable for other fish. But if you are, here's some suggestions I can make:
Plecos seem to do okay in coldwater environments.
Dojo loaches are very interesting
Rosy Red Minnows
White cloud mountan minnows
Some types of shrimp

One goldfish needs 10 gallons of water because they create a lot of ammonia. If there is not enough water to break down the ammonia it will kill the fish.
Goldfish need to be kept with goldfish. Reasons are they like their water cold 60* to 70* and need a nice strong filter. They also need to be fed goldfish flakes.
You can put an algae eater in there to help keep the tank clean. Other than that no other fish can be mixed.

Keep to gold fish. There are a lot of different types of gold fish you could chose from. Gold fish are a cold water fish so putting them with tropical fish would not be good for one or the other. Also gold fish tend to be a dirtier fish. They produce more waste and would require more water changes to keep the toxicity low for the other fish.

If you mix any fish that needs tropical temperatures (mollies, plecos, guppies, etc...i.e. most of the fish you see at the pet store) with goldfish, you are asking for trouble. Tropical fish need heated water to thrive, goldfish should not have heated water to thrive. Bad combination!
