I hardly think dropping one course will cause the colleges to change their admission decisions; the only likely exception would be engineering. The only way to get a concrete answer is to call each college you applied to and ask to speak to an admissions officer. For Berkeley, call 510-642-3175 Monday-Friday, between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. For UCLA, call 310-825-3101 Monday-Friday, between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The admissions officers from UC campuses I've spoken to in the past were very helpful and courteous, so you should be able to get a straight answer from them. You wouldn't have to give them your name or any information that would link you to your application, so you don't have to worry. I've never called Stanford before, but I suspect the admissions officers there would be just as helpful.

I applied to UCLA, USC, and Berkeley, and only had 3 years of science (a general science course, biology, and chemistry). I did get into UCLA and didn't get into Berkeley or USC and I had a 4.06 GPA and was involved in a whole bunch of extracurricular activties, so I think what factored into me not getting into those two schools was that I didn't take as many science or math classes as others had.

It will depend on if science is your major in college. GPA is also important if you apply to the colleges of what you mentioned.
You may be better to drop it if you expect to get a bad grade.
Why don't you ask your high school counselor for sure?

You'll want that 4th year of science. I actually took two science classes one year so I had 5 years of science in high school.

Do you know the competition you will be up against? You should take science in the first semester. then in the second semester, after you are accepted drop the class. But make sure that it won't effect your acceptance. That's what I did.

the more classes you take the better, because a high gpa doesnt gurantee an admission, if there is a person next to you with same gpa and same classes, but he has only one year more of science, he will be accepted and you will be denied
