def still a first rounder, he's the heisman trophy winner, however his stock has fallen considerably. In his biggest game so far, he played his worst game so far, and the first regular season game in the nfl will be even bigger then the national championship game. NFL owners think, big game bad game, bigger game worse game, and they'd rather not take on a risk like that when they could take a player with a greater impact. Under the bright lights his flaws were exposed and he'll pay in terms of how long he will wait for his name to be called on draft day. Still a QB who can have an immediate impact on a team is hard to come by. As crazy as it sounds I could see the Eagles getting rid of Garcia and picking up Smith as a back up for the injury proned McNabb.

i dont know if he's a first-rounder, but he will not be judged too badly by that one game. of course, he had two other bad games against psu and illinois, and some people think there were signs that he would struggle against the gators too.

but really, pro scouts judge players mainly by their physical attributes...their performance at the combine or in individual workouts. That's really the most important thing...so Troy Smith can essentially erase the championship game and redeem himself. I believe he had a good Senior Bowl, and in OSU's three biggest games he was dominant twice...Texas and Michigan. he'll probably be a first day pickup, possibly in the first round, but so much can still change so it's way too early to say. remember how much jay cutler moved up during the evaluation process...and he didnt play a single game as big as any of smith's.

Troy Smith wasnt a first rounder before that game. Now its clear that hes not. He is a good Qb but he doesnt have the weapons to take over a big college game. How will he ever take over a pro game.

Funny how none of you can even back up your claim as to how he wont be good. You say hes too short, well guess what more then HALF of the starting QB's in the NFL are 6'2" or smaller, troy smith is 6'. So that argument just go tossed out the window. You say he his arm is "ok", but yet in ESPNs QB competion he was BY FAR the strongest. You say he is kinda accurate, well too bad he was 4th in the NCAA in QB rating, WAAAY ahead of your beloved Brady Quinn. Yeah lets not forget that he was top 10 in completion percentage, TD's, and fewest INT's. Yeah lets just ignore all the facts when it comes to Troy Smith, but when talking about other players like Quinn, Brohm, Russell thats all you want to talk about. So what is it, do facts matter or not. If you are going to talk about something at least know what you are talking about instead of just throwing out random information that has nothing to back it.

Funny how you all only talk about Troy Smiths one bad game his entire career. What was Brady Quinn's record in bowl games again, can you refresh my memory on that one. How many big games has he won?

No, you cant judge him by one bad game but he was a late second to early third rounder before that game to begin with. His arm strength and accuracy are not too bad but he still is a bit short to be a superb NFL'er. This isnt to stop him from being a great athlete, and emphasis on athlete not QB, or great player in the NFL but definately is not going first round.

That one bad game shows Troy Smith can't handle the pressure. If in college you can't handle the pressure imagine the NFL. Troy Smith has a strong arm but he will be drafted in the 2nd round. I like JaMarcus Russell out of LSU who is predicted to be drafted #1 by the Oakland Raiders. I don't even think Brady Quinn will live up to his expections at the next level.

Troy Smith NEVER was a first rounder, 3rd to 5th round at best.

Although Troy Smith was a great player in College and won the Hesiman he is not a first round pick. He will most likly go late second early third round. His bad game in the championship is not what is killing him it is his height. He is 5'11 and most NFL QB's are about 6'2 or 6'3

He wasn't a first rounder BEFORE that game. He's too small and his playing style would not work in the NFL.

Even before that game he was projected as third rounder. He's not going to be a good pro.
