It depends on your beard to some degree....some faces will adapt much more quickly to one kind of electric razor than another. But...

It also depends on how much money you want to spend, and whether you want a close shave or a safer shave (no cuts or fewer cuts).

In my experience, if you are going cheap, rotary razors will get you closer, all other things being equal, but they take longer to get used to, and you do run a slightly higher risk of minor, pinprick cuts. Not to mention they can be more difficult to clean and maintain. And you do run a higher risk of razor burn (there's more friction with these razors).

However, foil razors just don't get you close at all unless you drop some serious cash on something with at least two foils and cutters if not three. The rotary I currently have is the cheapest one I could buy, and it gets me closer than *both* of the last two foil shavers I had--and one had two foils.

So what I'd say is: If you can get used to it, and remember to use a *light* touch with it (especially around the corners of your mouth), get the rotary, and see if you can get used to it. It will get you closer and they are generally quieter and better made at the lower end of the price spectrum. It isn't for everyone but for the people it *works for*, it isn't half bad (just remember too, you will get more razor burn--friction--as the blades get duller and worn).

Really. There are some good foil razors and some that truly and really stink, but it's hard to find a *bad* rotary.

Just my humble experience though. Hope this helps. :)

Hi
Both the electric razors serve different purposes. Rotary Razors are designed to follow the outlines of the face as you move the rotary shaver, the hairs slips into the openings of the shaver's head and are cut off. These products give a clean shave around the difficult areas of face like neck and chin. Rotary shaver are mainly for those who have strong hairs and do not shave every day. It gives the best result on rough hairs too. Those are ideal for people who don’t shave every day, especially those who go out at weekends without shaving and want a clean shave next day.

While Foil shavers are gentle for sensitive skin, these are made up of thin layers of metal that covers the blades. Foil shavers give a closer shave in comparison to rotary shavers.

I found a foil razor was better than rotary but you must get a good one. Cheapies are bad value. If you apportion cost of a very good razor over the years of use, it won't seem so expensive
