You need to look more closely to see if the skin looks damaged or if it looks like it has some sort of substance on top of it, or whether it just looks like color in the scales. If it appears to just be color in the scales, this is perfectly normal. If it appears to be damaged skin or something on the skin, you need to read up on goldfish diseases, identify the disease and treat accordingly. You say it's by a window. Could it be getting sunburned? They can you know. Move it away from direct sunlight and see if that helps. It could be ammonia burns. You also need to get a master test kit and check your water parameters for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. They should read, 0 ppm ammonia, 0 ppm nitrites and 40 or less ppm nitrates. Poor water quality is virtually always the cause for diseases and parasites. Goldfish need filters very badly. This will seriously affect water quality. As far as color change, goldfish, as part of their breeding process, are constantly having their genes mutated to produce new colors and body varieties of the fish. So, goldfish genes never get a chance to become stable and their colors will change at various points in their lives. There is a lot involved in the proper care of goldfish. Take a look at some of these links so you can get a better idea of what to look for and how to improve your goldy's environment.

DON'T PUT ALOE VERA IN!

Most likely this is ammonia burn. And bad. Goldfish (SINGLE. goldfish) need 20 gallons of water each. If he doesn't have that? even daily water changes will help very little to keep that ammonia down.

Always change with water conditioner. Try to get him into a 10 gallon as soon as possible and that'll help, some. Keep up those daily water changes. Feel free to message me.

It sounds like he has something called Ichthiosis (probably misspelling) but it turns fish black. You need to go immediately to the pet store and get solution to put in fish tank to kill that. But, there is a goldfish that has black on them so....I don't know. I just know my fish got that ichthiosis and I had to use a solution; some of them died, but not all. I would suggest a filter in your aquarium for better aeration. You don't need to change the water daily and when you change, do it gradually so the temperature doesn't have a sudden change.

Best wishes.

Its likely from ammonia burns. Black goldfish can turn orange, but goldfish can never gain black pigment. You need a cycled tank with a filter.
