If you take a good look at the Canadian teams, all should make the playoffs. I am not a Habs fan but every 8 years or so a goalie comes along in Montreal and they win. Someone has to beat them. Toronto is happy making the playoffs, early exit. Ottawa, yearly, has the potential to go a long way but ,yearly, underachieve when it counts, no faith in them. Calgary has the experience and the goal tending but I'm an Oiler fan, enjoy the early golfing Calgary. Oilers I will remain optimistic about. Last years run is still fresh in all their minds, tough division to win. And then there is Vancouver. For long suffering Canuck fans, so far Luongo has lived up to his hype, may continue well into the early rounds. Definitely better chance of a Canadian team coming from the west but if Ottawa can play in April and May like they do at times during the regular season, I will give Ottawa an outside chance. From the west, I'll take the winner of the battle of Alberta with Vancouver a chance as well. Should be some great hockey. GO OILERS..

If you really want to pick it apart, you'd have to go with the Ottawa Senators. Montreal and Toronto are to inconsistant right now, although Montreal has the potenial to go deep in the playoffs with a hot goalie. Calgary & Edmonton are suffering the same fait right now as the Habs and Leafs. Vancouver is either very hot or very cold. If they could stay "warm" they would do themselves and their fans a huge favour and provide some hope. With any luck we will have a third straight final with a team from a Cup Crazy country and actually cares about the result....

Ottawa is on a roll lately, they have the fire power and the defence BUT will the goaltending be able to do the job in the post season. Emery is unproven and Gerber barely played a game last year for Carolina.
Vancouver would be my 2nd choice, they have Luongo which is definitely one of the best goalie in the league. Some good offence but defence is a bit iffy.

i think there are 3 levels of canadian teams:
1. the marginal - edmonton and toronto
2. the competitive - ottawa, montreal, and vancouver
3. the cup contenders - calgary
while i am a montreal and vancouver fan, i think calgary is a level above both of these teams. calgary has already made a number of trades to strengthen their team. they have an amazing goalie who has already proven himself in the playoffs. they have one of the best power forwards in the league. their defence is outstanding and the depth players can contribute. calgary is hungry to get back to the finals.

Of the the rest Canadian communities, Ottawa has the main suitable threat of advancing to the cup finals. to confirm, it is going to by no potential be basic, as New Jersey and Buffalo stand interior the way, yet Ottawa is experienced sufficient to conflict the two considered one of those communities. the only different Canadian group nonetheless interior the seek is Vancouver, and Anaheim would desire to make short paintings of this group.

I'm going with Ottawa. Ottawa is the only Candien team that hoist the cup this year and next year, if they can just get their playoff legs going. Montreal could be the cinderella though. And I can't say anything about the rest, cuz I hate the other Candien teams.

of the canadian teams, the flames have the best shot. they have proven playoff players in iginla, conroy, amonte, regehr, and kiprusoff. plus with the additions of brad stuart and wayne primeau, they now have some more grit. kristian huselius is their "skill guy," and their depth especially on defense bodes well for the playoffs. the only problem for them is if they can score enough, and if the younger players - guys like lombardi, mark giordano, etc. - can hold their own

Wouldn't mind seeing an Ottawa Vancouver final.
The one game they played this year was a tense action packed low scoring game.
Highly entertaining from two closely matched teams.

EDMONTON, if they can get in. They have a team built for the playoffs, with guys like pisani, stoll, hemsky, smyth, lupul, roloson, torres, and horcoff. They showed us last year that although they may not be great in the regular season, they know how to shine in the playoffs.

i would have to say calgary or vancover. They both have great goalies in miikka kiprusoff and roberto luongo. I think calgary has better forwards in iginla, tanguay, and huselius. But honestly i dont think either are going to WIN the cup.
