Your question implies that not too many schools offer a Sociology major. I had no idea! My college did, and as I am currently researching schools for my MA, I'm noticing a lot of colleges offer Sociology graduate degrees.
My guess is that many schools in the U.S. offer Sociology as a major. Good luck.

I can't tell you the exact number, but the website below lists 75 different schools offering sociology degrees.

Several, but it is not a very employable degree. Sociology is used in many facets of life, but is not respected enough to hold much merit in the career world. You can use it to teach if you also pursue graduate degrees with it, but other than that the job opportunities are few. I know a lot of police officers who have a BS in this field.
