The honours `in question` are mainly Knight-Hoods and Lords. Such a title carries a prestige of sorts, in some levels of society, they open doors to new `friends` and jobs and there are obvious financial advantages in this. It seems rather like adults playing games, because we all know that having a title doesn`t change the person you are, you are no better than anybody else for having a `handle` to your name. Frankly a "bought" title is worthless, so it is a very stupid man who `buys` one, and an even stupider man who sells it.
A person who earns a knight-hood for doing something exceptional ( i.e. Edmund Hillary, the first man to climb Mt. Everest in 1953. ) This man deserved his "Sir", he earned it, and can proudly use the title.
But what of these cheats and fraudsters who paid for theirs ? THEY know they did nothing to deserve it, so there is no way they can ever be proud. They have to live with their deceit for the remainder of their lives. What a waste of money, what a waste of pride and personal dignity for them, and of course for their wives and children who will also if only by default, share their shame.
More so what a disgrace for us as a nation, that the whole world knows that some of the men who are in our government are little more than common fraudsters, cheats, and liars; despicable men, each of whom works so hard at `passing the buck`. They don`t even have the decency to tell the truth, and these are the men that some of the electorate chose to govern us. My dog is a better man than any of them, and she is a female!

The honours are to get into the house of lords. Big money is paid to line MP's pockets.
Not all, just those at the top, to enable them to buy expensive properties & increase their personal wealth to the detriment of the taxpayers.

Lord / Lady. Means you get the prestige of sitting in the House of Lords and voting on our laws. Presumably comes with lots of credibility and people will fawn over you!

The Dishonourable order of the Bung. Presumably Blair will become Baron Blair of Barking and join the order- after he goes in a couple of months- I doubt he'll cough up for it with his own money though!
