I can't sleep for more than 7 hours, and can do that only if I get up at least twice in the night to go to the bathroom. During the day if I'm 'well' I can take a nap for from 1/2 to 1 hour, and if I'm 'feeling ill' or am sick I can 'nap' for from 2-4 hours. I can't 'recharge my batteries' by simply 'sleeping' though ... I must also get some 'good exercise' and do something during the day that makes me 'use my mind' ...

Depending on various factors including age and health, the normal time should be around 6 to 10 hours. After that, actually before the 10 hours, your body clock should naturally wake up. You may well feel sleepy and doze off but you'll just be resetting your sleep period having already reached the above stated hours. Anything above 10 hours is considered unhealthy and may have an associated health condition to it.

I regularly sleep for 2nights waking up on the third day. I sleep right through, only waking up when I want a drink. I never know what day it is when I eventally surface and it completely disorientates me. I get concerned about it but my doctor doesn't seem to be so I guess I'll just sleep on until it goes as quickly as it started!

well every body in this world should get at least 8 hours of sleep if not a part of your brain will tell your whole body that you are tired and your body will react, into sleeping in where ever you are at, even if you are driving which is very dangerous so every body should get at least 8 hours of sleep each night
