That depends upon your belief system. Staunch Evangelical Christians will say 6,000 yrs ago. Scientists on the other hand place the age of the Earth at about 4.5 billion years old, but the individual layers all originated within a short geological time period when the earth became completely molten due to intense pressure, radioactive decay, and cosmic bombardment that was intense and frequent among the inner planets during that time period. Once molten the various elements within the whole were seperated by mass with the heavier elements pulled down by gravity towards the center or core region.

Whether you believe that the earth is Billions of years old or not will be a subject of debate until we get the chance to ask God in heaven. While many biblical commentaries agree in a younger Earth the Hebrew translation of the word day "yôm" can be interpreted both literally or figuratively. Figuratively the greek word "yôm" can mean a long period of time. In this case the meaning is figurative meaning a long period of time. Therefore it is possible that the earth could be billions of years old, however regardless of the Earths age and God's equivalent the word "day" there is still the fact that God created the earth and that is on it including uniquely creating each one of us and evolution is not part of the equation.
