The reciprocal of a number is the number you multiply it by to get 1. For a whole number, it's just 1 over that number.

So 1/4 + 1/5 = 1/n

Common denominator is 20

5/20 + 4/20 = 1/n

9/20 = 1/n

Cross multiply and get what n is.

If a <> 0 the reciprocal of a is 1/a because a * 1/a = 1.
So the reciprocal of 4 is 1/4 and the reciprocal of 5 is 1/5.
The sum of 1/4 and 1/5 is 9/20. To get the reciprocal
of this, simply "flip" the fraction. So the answer is 20/9.

A reciprocal is simply flipping the number upside down. Therefore, the reciprocal of 4 is 1/4 and the reciprocal of 5 is 1/5. Because 4 is the same as 4/1 and 5 is the same as 5/1. This works the other way too. The reciprocal of 1/2 is 2. The reciprocal of 3/4 is 4/3. To solve your problem first add 1/4 and 1/5. You get 9/20. To find what number 9/20 is the reciprocal of, flip it over. Your answer is 20/9. Simplified, 2 2/9.

well reciprocals are just the number flipped so 4 is 1/4 and 5 is 1/5

so 1/4 + 1/5 = ?

equalize the denominator and combine

5/20 + 4/20 = 9/20

then flip the result to get the reciprocal of it

20/9

the reciprocal is 1 over the number

so the reciprocal of 4 is 1/4 and the reciprocal of 5 is 1/5

1/4+1/5
=5/20+4/20
=9/20

and the reciprocal of that is 20/9 (or 2.2222 repeated)

first - the reciprocal is a number divided by something 1/x
so the reciprocal of 4 is 1/4 and of 5 is 1/5
add these together 1/4+1/5
get a common denomination (20)
5/20 +4/20 = 9/20
to find the reciprocal you need toknow what 1/x = 9/20
9x=20
x=2.2222222

once you divide by technique of 0, both that's an mistakes, or there are situations the position curiously like branch by technique of 0, yet there is a few calculus reduce in touch. branch by technique of 0 is undefined. yet in calculus, it ought to have some certain value. that's likely large, except the numerator is likewise large. in spite of everything, in case you get a authentic value, then that's not remotely an same as infinity. an same is authentic for infinity. In some reduce, a million / infinity may frame of mind 0. even though it also may not. It relies upon on the information of the infinity you're speaking about. allow's say that you're construction a calculator on the marketplace to the accepted public. a million/0 isn't infinity. that's "not a volume". that is because, commonly, you have not the foggiest clue what type of 0 it really is. Likewise, you should assume that you won't be able to do something with "not a volume". yet now allow's say your calculator can do symbolic math. allow's say it handles calculus. Now issues are a touch trickier.
