The Australian Continent as a whole.
1.) It is the only area with a bottleneck running from Siam to Indonesia, therefore making it the most defensible place on the board.
2.) Two bonus armies for defending the continent.
3.) Taking Siam gives you additional defense in depth, as well as denying the 7 armies from anyone trying to take Asia.

I think the Middle East is the most valuable. You can reach most continents fairly easily from here. The toughest one to reach from here is North America.

It's a nice connecting territory, and a critical gateway between North America and other continents. It depends on the map though, and how connected it is.

hmmm... i like to take south america and australia. because that way your not getting like crappy amounts of armies each turn and that way you can break up almost any continent on the board

You can break up the continents of Asia and Europe while securing Africa.
