My friend pretty much lives under parental lock down. And her dad yells at her if her showers last longer than ten minutes! So she's takin FIVE MINUTE showers! How do I tell her to tell him that he's totally whacked?

Oh yeah and will you people stop with the water bill thing? I mean i KNOW but clearly you don't know what her household is like, here's an example for you lovely ignorant ones, he calls her a (and i quote) and "b*****" when she doesn't do the dishes at a time that suits him. So wake up and smell the truth people...respectfully of course.

Also I'm totally for the enviroment I'm one of the people who will end up protesting against hunting and animal testing, but even though I have very strong beliefs, my friends come FIRST. And to all you guys who said things ike "five minutes is plenty" yeah, you clearly don't have to shave, cleanse, AND wash tons of hair in five minutes.

Respectfully of course.

Conserving water doesn't sound like a whack,

maybe your friend should pay the water bill.

I suspect that your friend doesn't pay for the heating or water, if she did she might understand her dad's position. In Australia we are in a period of serious drought and we are staring to appreciate the value of water. I am with the dad and your friend needs to think about how she can contribute to the family rather than worry about her own creature comforts - I bet this doesn't get the best answer rating by you.

Maybe he pays the energy bill and a long shower empties the hot water tank so everyone else has to wait for it to recover to take their shower. Parents are seldom wacked out, they usually have good reasons for stuff - even if kids don't see them yet. That's what I learned anyway.

She can't change the way her father is and if he's calling her a B**** when she does things that don't suit him he doesn't seem like a very approacable person. I suggest your friend takes showers when he's not home if she can. other wise she's just going to have to try and abide by his rules until she's old enough to move out.

You would not think that if you were to pay the water bill. Five minutes is plenty.

Tell your friend to take a bath. Showers waste water and water is expensive! He probably has a budget to stick to.
