I joined a chat romm today and started chatting with some guy from Malaysia. At first he was nice and friendly but after i switched my display image to my own picture which he asked me to do he got really vulgar and nasty. Now I am afraid he might do something with my picture all over the internet? Could he have even able to save it on his desktop even if it was just a display image?

Yeah, he could save it and post it on the internet somewhere, but if it is just a normal picture, why are you so worried? It is not like your S.S.# is encoded, or your home address, or anything other than your face. I am sure there are already pictures containing you SOMEWHERE on the internet (i.e. friends uploading pics, pics you just happen to be in, etc) so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I'm sure it won't happen.. but yes.. there are programs that can "steal" display pictures. Not sure which chat room you were in, some you can right click and "save". But don't worry too much, he was probably just a jerk and won't do anything. I'm sure it'll all be ok :)

If you just kept it as your display pic then he could not have it, but if you sent it to him (pasted it on the im) then he has the picture.

You can report him, and then block all messages from him at the moment.
And unfortuneately, yes, he can save your display image.
I'd defiently report him for abusive misconduct!

It amazes me that people continue to do things in these chat rooms that compromises their privacy, their morals and their safety. I hope you didn't use your real name or town or anything else that could identify you. Tell us you didn't.

as long as your picture isn't nude, you have no need to worry.
