I know I am but with the snakes in the opposition party, they love to bring back " Jim Crow" politics. To me it says that they fear him. Barack Obama was never raised a Muslim contrary to what the right spin machine has already manufactured. His father was raised Muslim but became an atheist as an adult. He had not been an influence in his son's life after 2 years old.
In his short stint in the Senate, he has already demonstrated a willingness to cross the aisle when necessary to help get things done for the American people. To me that is more important than sticking with the party lines. This behavior has been nothing but an abject failure for us. If he can do, it might be our best hope yet.

I really liked this guy until I heard on TV today that his church preaches black power. It wasn't told as a particularly bad thing but if you are an older person like me, it makes my skin crawl. The Black Panthers were such a militant group when I was young and taught only hate and disharmony. God help us if someone with that attitude would become president. I'm thinking it would undo all that has been accomplished to further the peace between the races. During the 60's I was unfortunate enough to get caught in the traffic of a riot in progress in my small midwestern city and it was a very ugly thing. We need love and harmony between the races now more than ever. Yep, I came up from the Peace, Love and Rock and Roll era and frankly, I wonder how all that got so lost. Black Power is the last thing we need in this country, second only to not needing the Klu Klux Klan. As for me, I'm still driving a VW. Peace Brother!

No way.
The Democratic party is so disorganized, they are trying to pull in any group that they think will help them. Because blacks have historically voted democratic, the Dems don't want to take a chance and lose that bloc.
Richardson has the same appeal to the Hispanics. As their numbers increase, the Dems will likely start to court them as well.'
The Rainbow coalition will try and merge the two, to take advantage of the Hispanic increase. However, as when the Blacks tried to include all Hispanics in their "People of Color" shibboleth, the Hispanics would have nothing to do with it. Likewise, when the blacks tried to include American Indians in their People of Color, the Indians would have nothing to do with it.
Both of these groups, the Hispanics and Indians know that, once they allow the blacks to take advantage of them, the blacks will turn on them as sure as the sun always rises.

Certain states in the country in general (not every individual living in them) are probably not comfortable with a minority candidate. That said, he does not need to win every state to become President and there are enough people who are ready for him that he has a legitimate chance of winning if he chooses to run.

No way. I like the guy but I don't think some people don't appreciate the level of racism that is out there. Some people who haven't voted in decades will come out to vote AGAINST a black person as president.

I think the people of this country expect to elect someone who will "make it all better" and have "fire spewing from his *ss". I don't envy the next elect, because this will be hard, if not impossible, to do. Obama seems educated in the ways of politics. He, like the others, is working hard to get votes. I don't have any concerns, or give preference, to racial differences. If he appears good enough to give it his best shot, then hooray for him and let him try to fix this rats nest we are in. Otherwise, get off the pot and let someone else through.

He's admitted to doing drugs, he's admitted to doing a lot of things that most would keep under wraps. He may have screwed up some things in his life, but WE ALL HAVE. Maybe it's time we had a president that is keeping it real so to speak.
