try sitting with a cushion under your arm it raises your arm away from your ribs and takes away some of the pain, my doc says if you take good deep breathes every so often it helps to heal ribs quicker, hope you feel better soon

If you are in this much discomfort, call the out of hours practice, and a doctor there will see you. Or you could try going to A&E and asking for an Xray of your chest- they should cover your stomach with a lead apron so your baby will not suffer- but if you have cracked a rib, they probably won't do much for you, you just have to sit with your arms raised like someone else suggested- my mom cracked her rib a couple of years ago, and all they could do for her was give pain killers, ribs just have to heal on their own.

You could try telling the doctor's receptionist that you need an emergency appointment though, that might get you seen sooner, or even see the practice nurse who may be able to help.

No doctor should leave a pregnant distressed woman for 5 days without an appointment! That's just wrong.

Good luck, I hope you find something to help soon :)

Are you sure its from the accident?

I only ask cause at 27wks i started getting really bad rib pain - it was actually my child kicking and hitting my rib - the second one on my right side. To me it didn't feel like baby kicking - it just felt like i'd done something to my ribs! LOL.

But if your sure its not baby - go docs for sure - play up the pain ALOT - they'll have to do SOMETHING if you're in the waiting room complaining about the pain... and those tears will come in handy too - pretend its from the pain not the emotions of being pregnant.

Good luck - hope it gets better!

It could be both- could be a fractured rib, but baby most likely will have turned and will be kicking you in the ribs also.
I would get myself to the nearest hospital and not wait to see my normal doctor, if it is a fractured rib, they shouldn't really do an xray but will be able to advise you on the best course of action.

Maybe you have cracked a rib in the accident, they hurt like mad, if I were you I would ring the doctors again and insist you see a doctor right away, bieng in an accident and bieng pregnant is not a good combination, get it seen to and if neccessary get angry..
