It's been stated that Martin Straka is the fastest player on the ice. Even announcers from opposite teams and players in the NHL have stated this. (Don't ask me who, I watch over 300 games a year.)
When players state, "You have to watch Martin Straka and his speed." While not even commenting on Jagr's scoring ability. There must be something to it.
You really can't consider an ALL STAR game in the making of who is the fastest skater. Not everyone gets to participate. Heck, Jagr blew a groin in the fastest skater. So a lot of people don't go all out at All Star games, who wants to get injured at a show off event and blow a career?
Go Don Cherry!!!!!
Get rid of Gary Betman!!!!!

Matt Lombardi from Calgary. He creates awesome plays with his speed. Speed competition at the All Star games doesn't really showcase the fastest players in the NHL. Just the fast ones that get voted to the game.

if i will upload somethign. i thik they skate incredibly darn quickly . the only factor limiting them is the gap with which they could skate. i think they are accelerating consistently untill the turn or decelerate while they skate . even however once you have the %. you cant extremely bypass your quickest till your actual good . plus, in the game they could go searching and steer away from others etc . so if your asking how speedily a ice hockey participant can skate., think of as others suggested, approximately 35-40 mph . prolly speedier. specifically because of the shortcoming of friction. if your asking how speedily does a hockey participant skate for the duration of a game, prolly alittle slower. hoep this helps

Marian Gaborik...he won the fastest skater competition at the 2003 All-Star Game, lapping the rink in 13.713 seconds. 13.713 is the record. Therefore, he is the fastest.
Plus, I'M A WILD FAN, and I've seen him play in person. Believe me, he's the fastest!

Patrick Marleau, without a doubt. I mean, Andy McDonald might have beaten him in the All-Star contest as the fastest man, but I think it was a fluke. He has blazing speed that almost no one in the league can match.

Patrick Marleau of the Sharks.
The guy just flies on skates. When he's one on one with a dman, he seems to have this extra boost in his legs where he's able to just skate right by them. Even more amazing is he's able to do this at the end of his shifts sometimes.

there are two people who i would love to see race, Maxim Afinogenov of the Sabres and Martin St. Louis of the Lightning. They are both so incredibaly fast. I think id give St. Louis a slight edge, but not by much
