Mark Jackson is better but it's close:
My reasons:
He ranks second in NBA history with 10,334 assist, he's averaged 2 double doubles threw out a season(87-88, 96-97), possesses 17 triple doubles, been to the finals(further then Nash ever been),
his assist high is 22 v.s. New Jersey 01-29-97, his rebound high is 16 v.s. Vancouver 1-22-97, named NBA rookie of the year(87-88),
matched the nba record for assist in one quarter(12) v.s. The Nets 1-20-97, appeared in the 1989 NBA All-Star Game, made five 3 pointers in one game v.s. Boston 4-20-89, his season best in assist is 11.4 apg, he ranks 20th in career steals with 1,608, he had better DEFENSE then Nash, and overall he was bigger & stronger then Nash.
Now to all you people who's letting the hype about Nash FOOL you. Nash is an average player that plays on the same level as a Mark Jackson. Nash is no MVP and never should of been! Mark Jackson didn't get props like that and he's better or as good as Nash in assist! That's racist!

Well you're only looking at one category in terms of assists. Mark Jackson was no where NEAR Steve Nash offensively, while Nash is as just a good a passer. Nash, unfortunately took time to find his rhythm in the NBA, but now he looks like one of the best players in history. Nash's unbelievable 3 point and field goal percentages put him up there with Stockton, although he hits much more 3's than him.

I know when Mark Jackson played for the Jazz he was disruptive in the locker room and regarded as a horrible team player. Nash is a players player. He's a leader and his team respects him. When nash's career is over it should be no question that Nash was one of the greatest true point guards!
