They were sold largely, by their own people their tribal chiefs made deals, with these white slave traders, but whites weren't the only slave traders, back then Arabs have always been big on the slave trade tragedy, and I hear behind closed doors still are. Europe was big on it as well, even some African countries, practiced it as well. thats the thing it was thought, for the longest time that only the white man was evil enough, to do such a thing . when Arabs ,Africans, India, China,and parts of s.e.Asia it was quite common place

Hmm... lets see what the Africans used to defend themselves before WW1, which was MUCH later then the beginning of slavery, from the dutch settlers...

they used rock-tipped spears, bow-and-arrows, and "early-century" handheld knives...

i wonder what they had to defend themselves 100-200 years before then.

It was the leaders of their clans in Africa that did sold them. Although, some of them were rounded up like that, it was because other people wanted their land and it was a quick way to gain that land. It was wrong for people to do that regardless of their skin color.
