...and write laws which government passes which are always in favor of business and never in favor of people, even to the point of putting us in danger.
Why do they trust the government so much when big business runs the show?

sway: there used to be such a thing as business with accountability and protection for the citizen and the individual.

If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention.

wake up.

Go bankrupt if they stay: yeah right. sure......

So you think it's more ethical to pollute other countries without accountability and treat people to slave wages while destroying the AMerican middle class.

It's easy to see where conservative values lie.

Conservatives are concerned about how corporations have corrupted the government. That is why conservatives favor smaller, limited government. People, when left to their own devices and accountabilities will take care of the corporations. If a corporation is doing bad to the world, people will not use that company and it will go out of business. That is how free-market works.
As for liberals, they want the government to have more power, which places the power in the hands of these corporations that have the money to elect legislators and influence votes.
So many of the problems we now have are because there were minimal checks during the 1990s - everyone was so happy about the stock market surge, but they didn't care what was causing it to happen - out of control companies that were fixing their books.

Probably the same reason that Liberals don't ever seem concerned that Labor Unions have employed the same practice. Big business built this country, more over Big Business provides jobs. Why is it Liberals scream about major American Manufacturing concerns moving overseas where they can compete with foreign manufactures on equal footing rather then staying here where the Labor Unions and the Tree Huggers have passed laws ensuring that they will lose money and go bankrupt if they stay.

This has been the problem with Republicans, though I do not agree to the extent you refer.

The Republicans have been pandering to special interests instead of doing for all. The Democrats are just as guilty.

A large majority of Americans work for small business, not large corporations.

Considering the pollution loop holes, sway's idiotic rant, and the fact that the majority of political figures own or are board members on Coporations, I can definitely see where you're coming from. Conservs really have the nerve to say that the're right and everything's going to be fine with Bush behind them, but, they don't realize why Bush is behind them. It's because he's stickin his "coporate tool" in them from behind. Coporations reap the benefit and we're left standing, and the conservs are rubbing the Hind, wandering what just happened.

I have no idea why they trust him. good question.

Government needs to be weak enough to avoid trampling on people's rights but strong enough to avoid something else becoming a quasi-government, like the corporations have.

Neither welfare-state liberals, nor corporate-welfare-state conservatives, understand this.

You simply believe things that aren't true. The government has always supported business, big and small, as it IS the difference between us and the rest of the world. Businesses provide jobs and opportunity and growth, and there is nothing illegal about making a profit. Move to a socialist country if you don't like it, but good luck finding a J.O.B.

Don't ever forget that we are a capitalist economy and business is an important necessity of free enterprise. Otherwise you are socialist or communist economy or government. Which do you prefer?

as sway_26 so perfectly stated, they are all for government corruption, as long as they are getting the table scraps!

which is entirely true about them, except for one small fact...70% of America's labor is small businesses rather than large corporations. so sway_26's statment is refering to the minority, not the majority.
