right click and apply as wallpaper/ set as background.
or change it in system preferences.

Be careful of using a pic as a page background. If your web page is larger than the pic, then the pic will repeat to fill the space. If your pic is as large as your web page, it will take forever to load.

right-click on desktop, click properties - click desktop tab - click browse and select the picture and press okey. voila

once you see it is the right size for your screen, right click on it and choose "save background as..."
