Ernest Hemingway went to Oak Park - River Forest High School in Oak Park IL.

His father took him fishing, hunting and camping primarily in Northern Michigan. The Hemingways owned a vaction home called Windemere on Walloon Lake in Michigan.

He moved out of Illinois when he took the job as a cub reporter on the Kansas City Star. He only worked there for six months, then joined the Red Cross Ambulance Service in the Fist World War. After the war ended, he went back to Oak Park and then to Toronto Canada in 1920 to write for the Toronto Star newspaper.

Additional response: his wrote for his first newspaper in high school's "Trapeze' and in "Tabula" their literary magazine. He sarted work as cub reported for the KC Star on Oct 17, 1917 and quit in April 1918.
