maybe my spelling on "TINSEL" is wrong :)

In the 1930s the Tinsel industry was located in Los Angeles. As entertainment became the dominate industry, tinsel production moved to South East Asia were it is still a very prominate industry. Hollywood kept the name though.

It derives from tinsel used to decorate a Christmas tree. It's shiny and glittery, so they use it as an analogy in describing Hollywood. You spelled it correctly.
