if the mount is bad due to normal age and wear replace them all.
if the mount is bad due to something leaking on it that deterioated the rubber and the others are in good condition there would be no reason to change them all.

You can replace just the broken one if you haven't driven the car while it was broken. Otherwise, the increased movement of the engine will have weakened (or possibly started to break) one or more of the other mounts. I tried to just replace one myself (when I was young and foolish) - shortly after, the other mounts went the same way, and I basically had to do the same job again, since I had to remove the one I had just installed to get at the others.
So, if you haven't driven the car while it was broken, and if the mounts aren't weak from age anyway, then you should be OK. Otherwise, I'd change them all - it's not that expensive, and at least you won't have to worry about them again.

I would suggest replacing them both. I once had a car with 2 broken motor mounts. When I accelerated hard, the engine would rise up and twist, this would bind the cable to the carb and lock up with wide open throttle. So, do it once and be done with it. It shouldn't be that much more, a little labor and the price of the mount. Be safe not sorry.

Its good practice to replace both, so the rubber will have the same flexabilty to one another. Also check Transmission Mount. When, 1 of these goes bad, the others are soon to follow. From: MTStacy

I'm no mechanic, but I would probably side with the replace them all theory. Kind of like when you change your headlight or tail light lamps, normally you change both at the same time. I would at least change the ones that were opposite of the broken one. Better safe then sorry.

sup chris, if you have a busted motor mount you should go ahead and replace all of them. that way they will all wear at the same rate instead of one brand new one and then the rest of them breaking simultaniously at different times. you'll have all new ones and they will wear out evenly and will all last as long as eachother

Most of the time just replacing the broken one will correct the fault. You don't need to replace all of them.
