The chance of being trapped in a burning car is minuscule in comparison to your chance of dying because your face got caved in when it hit the steering wheel. And airbags have caused some injuries (usually minor friction burns on the inside of the wrists, and the occasional broken nose. And don't think you can skip the seat belt if you have airbags. The airbag is positioned so that it will cushion you - BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE WEARING A SEAT BELT. The easy way to tell? Look for a rear-end collision. Often, the air bags have gone off, but there is still a broken windshield, with the point of impact at the top, directly in front of the driver. Not using the seat belt can cause you to miss the airbag and go sailing over the top of it. Ouch!

Your chest is not a problem for an airbag - it is held in place by the seat belt. You need to be concerned about how far it is from the air bag to your face. That's what will hit it - and you need to give it time to inflate first.

I was in a roll over a long time ago and my seat belt broke. I (1 out of 4) was the most injured. Seat belts rarely, if ever jam, without some kind of warning symptoms. Air bags are designed to instantly inflate and instantly deflate. The only way to be seriously injured is if your arms are across the bag or your face when they deploy

I went from high school to college and became an EMT. I can't tell you how horrible it was to see a child or young person lying on the hood of a car dead after crashing through the windshield because they weren't buckled up properly. Yes, there is a slight danger of burning but not nearly as many flips and 360's that could break every bone in your body.
I always buckle up. My daughter is not over 4 feet 9 inches tall so she still gets a booster seat. 4 feet 9 inches is the legal limit for a child to be able to sit with just a seat belt.

Seatbelts are definitally safer! They prevent drivers and passengers from flying around, or out of, the car in an accident. Air bags do kill some people, but more people are saved by them then killed.

The one in a zillion chance of the above circumstances happening are not great enough to warrant the non-use of belts. Take it from me, my life was saved by seat belts in a highway speed limit collision. Yes, I was badly injured, but I would have been dead without the belts.

Yes seat belts are really safer because if you got in a crash you woulden't fly out the window!

SEATBELTS are defently the best thing to have in any car....no matter about all those 'what ifs' it should be made illegal to not be wearing seatbelts
only a stupid nation could question seatbelts

What if, what if, what if. It wouldn't do much good if the Queen Mary cruise ship fell on you either. They have been proven over and over again. Your thoughts are based on maybe's, and does not reflect reality.
