Ok,this might be bit of an oddball question,but I'm just wonder was it ever colour? Because sometimes it looked almost black and other times blondish,I can also assume it was due to lighting ect So what was his actualy hair colour?

To my knowledge John Lennon never coloured his hair. If there seems to be a variation in his color in some pictures it might be because of the photography taken.
In the summers many people with light brown hair tend to get blond highlights and John Lennon was no exception. Also in the winter our hair seems to get darker.

When the Beatles first appeared on the music scene, his hair was medium brown which I do believe is his natural color.
