It says I need dirext x 9.0 or higher and I have run dxdiag and I do have 9.0 installed already, does anyone know what I can do?

Install the one on the disc again, it wont hurt your computer.

Even if you have the lastest version of direct x9.0, doesnt meant thats actually the problem, when i first bought sims2 for my old computer, that was the message i kept getting cause when sims2 came out, my computer was like 4 years old, so if you have an older computer, that also might be the issue, try to go to to your manufractuer's website to make sure you have all graphic and drivers updated, just a little help, sorry if its not the right answer.

I think mine did this... or something similar. You should be able to just say No or Continue or something and it will go on with the install.

try installing direct x again or just try taking the game back because there is nothing else to do. try removing direct x from your pc and install it again.
