If someone brought you donuts, and you said "Yay donuts!" is that the same as saying "thanks"?

no. that shows excitement not your appriciation

no not at all. Yay means you are happy with getting them and you are excited about the donuts BUT saying thanks is saying thanks. Two totally different words and meanings here.

no. too often "thank you" and "please" get hidden. please take the time to say please and thank you and don't let someone try to figure out what you meant.
