Isn't that what they are? I was a cashire and was never offended when called a cashire, I was a printers assitant and proudly put that on my resume. Seriously why?

I don't think it should be something one takes offense too. It may elude to the fact that being a waiter/waitress does not require many skills and is a relatively low paying job that anyone can do. But if you realize that everyone has to start somewhere then there is no reason to take offense to it. In fact you can learn valuable job skills in any job that can serve you well in higher up jobs that you may feel like shooting for.

I didn't know it was. Maybe because using the er or ess on the end is gender specific. I think that is why they don't say stewardess or steward anymore , now they say flight attendant. I guess they want you to say server. Or maybe because the "wait" in the word sounds subservient. Who knows?

no clue, my last few jobs they called us servers, which i didn't think was nearly as romantic sounding as waitress - when's the last time anybody wrote a song about falling in love with their server? oh well, what do i know, when i was a little girl i wanted to be a "stewardess"!

Why would their be anything wrong with that. Some of them make a lot of money. some people have put themselves through college waiting tables.
There is nothing wrong with any honest work, what is wrong is not having a job.

I think server is non-gender. I had no idea waiter or waitress was not p.c.
