Trust me you would not like Circus Circus..

The Stratosphere almost always has the lowest rates among strip hotels, and that's not because it's a run down dump of a hotel. It's actually a very nice place. It's the location that most don't like. It's located at the far North end of the strip. If you don't mind riding the bus(Deuce) to the other hotels on the strip then the Stratosphere is "generally" a bargain

Orleans is off the strip but is often a great value - was voted by trip advisor readers as the #2 "best value" hotel in the world

If you're really looking to save money, stay off the strip or downtown...Make sure you avoid special events, large conventions and weekends..

You can buy a 24 hour bus pass for $2.50, they gouge the tourist it's $5 on the strip..

If you time it right "go when things are slow" often times you can find rates like $70 at the Barbary Coast which is right in the middle of the strip, or in the $100 range for the Flamingo, the Luxor "normally" would be slightly higher.Yes, it is possible to find rates as low as $49 for the Luxor.

If there are several of you to split the cost, you might consider the Platinum hotel, the rates are reasonable and the rooms are 900sq ft with, with kitchens. The Platinum hotel is two blocks East of the strip on Flamingo.

On the strip? Probably Circus Circus. Go down Yahoo Travel and see what is cheapest on the strip. Off the strip? Probably Hostel International.
