spyware and spam is my guess. Download and run Ad-aware by lavasoft. It is free. Then download and run Ewido (free also)

Need more details before a reasonable answer can be formed...
When your computer becomes 'unresponsive' (sticking...) -
1. Does the mouse pointer still move ?
2. If you hit ctrl-alt-del on the keyboard, does the Task manager
screen pop up ? If so, click on the processes tab and see if
you have a process called 'dumprep' running - if so, select it
and delete the process ( works on WinXP only as far as I
know...)
3. What were you doing just before it became unresponsive ?
4. Have you defragmented your hard disk lately and cleaned off
unused files ( Internet explorer temp files...)
5. When it becomes unresponsive, and simply left alone, will it
regain consciousness on it's own ?

I have this on my pc as well. When I hit alt ctrl del and check my processes it says the processor is running at 100%. Bet yours is doing the same. Check to see what is running so high. Bet you it is one of the processes named svchost. Right click on it and high light end process tree. Cpu speed should return to normal and computer will un-freeze. Don't know what causes this to happen though
