If you've never tried the particular brand to know that your normal size is too small, do not buy a smaller size.
If anything, the rule of thumb for thongs is to buy a bigger size so that you can get used to the feeling.
Buying a smaller size would be incredibly uncomfortable in a lot of ways.

I would buy a thong one size UP. They tend to be very VERY uncomfortable when worn at the correct size or lower...I think you get what I mean.
Trust me, for your own comfort, go a size up.
Good luck!

Well, I usually eyeball the thong. If it looks like it's going to be too small for me, I go up to the next size. In general though, I think if you are unsure, it's always good to with a larger size. If it's too small, it sure is going to be uncomfortable!

not usually...if you wear a size 7 in brief or hi-cut, then you will take a size 7 thong.....if you are unsure about a particular brand, then buy one of that brand in your usual size, try it, and if it fits, get more another day...if too tight, get the next size up..if too loose, get the next size down.
